Hermes Cafè is a recent, extraordinary addition to the hospitality offered by the Hotel del Sole, a place with a great atmosphere open from morning until late at night with one of the most fascinating views possible – ancient Pompeii and Vesuvius.
On the fourth floor of the Hotel, overlooking Via Plinio and therefore the excavations, this place for relaxing and get-togethers, following the rules of the Greek and Roman Symposium, provides the chance to drink and enjoy dishes freshly prepared in the kitchen, dishes that vary according to the tastes of patrons and the time of the visit. And all the while overlooking one of the most beautiful and famous historical places in the world.
The Symposium for the Greeks – and then for the Romans who admired their civilisation – was not only an opportunity to drink well and to accompany some refined food with wine, but also a place of conversation, where people rich in culture and interests could meet, where time could be spent coming into contact with culture, entertainment and quality food and wine. This is what Hermes Cafè wants to offer again, in dedication to the god of commerce and travel which is represented in statues and frescoes present in many places throughout ancient Pompeii.
The quality of the beverage and its combination with food is assured by the Francesco Varnelli’s oversight, the General Manager and AIBES Barman (Italian Association of Barmen and Financial Backers).
A rich, substantial breakfast, or a snack while resting at noon after visiting the excavations, or an evening aperitif before immersing yourself in the nightlife, or finally an after-dinner romantic or friendly drink: any time is a good time to stop by the Hermes Cafè. Even a business meeting can be held in this beautiful setting, enhanced by exquisite coffee breaks.
The structure will also host Academy School training courses for those who wish to specialise in Hospitality and Food & Beverage.
